Experience
I incorporate various concepts into my tutoring style. I ask questions, provide hints, and help students make connections between what they're trying to learn and what they know. The STEM curriculum, focusing on science, technology, engineering, and math, is intimidating to many people; my goal is to make these subjects more accessible. I've been tutoring for a long time and have found that lots of people don't realize how smart they really are. The human brain functions much like a muscle, research has proven. Practicing heavy concepts is much like lifting weights. It helps to understand difficult concepts and, if a great educator offers enough effort and support, one person can learn anything.I tutor in geometry, algebra, trigonometry, chemistry, physics, biology, microbiology, life sciences, and ecology and assist in SAT test preparation. Attending the University of Washington, I studied marine biology along with cellular, developmental, and molecular biology. My passion for marine animals runs strong and I also volunteer my time at the Seattle aquarium. An outdoor enthusiast, I like to hike in my spare time and enjoy reading, yoga, and cooking. My plan is to pursue a Secondary Education master's and become a secondary school science teacher.
